Paradise Found

19th century charm

Nestled in Ashland, Ohio is a beautiful country location, blending the rustic architecture of an 1860’s barn with the inspiration of creativity and French Country atmosphere. Ashland’s claim to fame is that it is “Headquarters of Nice People”. We like to think we are part of that tradition. Ashland, Ohio is a place where you are welcomed and appreciated.

The property was operated as an artist studio/gallery and event space rental facility which started out as a single room in the barn. The barn is 7400 square feet of exquisite space and architecture. Currently the barn has five rooms on the lower level and a lean-to level which was originally the gallery and office. The final phase of the renovation completed in November of 2015, showcases the upper barn which is 4200 sq feet loaded with nostalgia. The new space blends the historic architecture of a 1860’s barn complete with hand hewn beams, trunnels which are tree nails made for pinning mortise and tenon joints, and a hay track with the function of today’s conveniences. The barn has new hardwood floors, 800 square foot mezzanine, a glass enclosed room which is multi-functional, 3 bathrooms, a built in custom office, LED lighting, heating and cooling system, a 30 ft stone fireplace complete with remote, wired sound system, a wine bar with stainless refrigerator and granite countertops, Wi-Fi, hard wired speakers with Bluetooth for audio streaming, plenty of lighting with dimmer switches, 7 ceiling fans and lots of windows to show off the magnificent country view! Over 5000 hardwoods and pine trees grace the surrounding area of the property to enhance nature's serenity and provide a refuge for wildlife. The pond was created from a creek which runs through the property, it is stocked with fish and attracts wildlife of all kind. In addition there are two stone bridges, two expansive brick courtyards and stunning landscaping surrounding the house and barn.

Seeing this property for yourself is the only way you can take in it's beauty and romantic charm. This home has been featured in Decorate with Paint and Heart of Ohio Magazine. The Italianate home was built in 1882 and lovingly renovated in 2001. The kitchen and garage were added during the renovation with custom built cabinets, travertine flooring, double oven, built-in glass top stove, stainless steel refrigerator, walk in pantry and laundry off the kitchen. The woodwork was Amish crafted to the original design of house, with 8 foot panel doors and 10 foot ceilings. New hardwood flooring has been installed throughout the house, an energy efficient geothermal heating and cooling system keeps the house cozy warm in the winter and cool and comfortable in the summer. The first floor is cozy with a remote activated antique fireplace, a living room which opens to the dining room and a front room which has a tray ceiling and mural that can be used as an office or bedroom with a dedicated full bath. The 2nd floor is the master suite, boasting vaulted ceilings with artisan murals, light bathing skylights, a sitting room, master bedroom and spa retreat with roman tub. A third room with full bath also resides on the second floor. The basement is partially finished with Tuscan walls and travertine marble floors.

The conservatory (600 sq ft building) sits in the pond with a 360 view of the farm and is perfect for entertaining as the sunsets and view are breath taking.
